BioI grew up on a short frontage road that ran parallel to Highway 8, west of Olympia, Washington. There were no busses, nowhere that the road went except out onto the highway, and lots of woods. I spent a lot of my time in front of the TV, reading books, and wandering around in the woods. At 9 years old I got my first D&D set and I haven't stopped gaming since. I developed a love of linguistics in the second grade, when I first read J.R.R. Tolkien's ring trilogy and speak German and Esperanto in addition to my native English. I'm in the midst of learning Spanish, Scots Gaelic, ASL, and Arabic recently and have sampled smatterings of several others. I work for a local computer store and do most all of their outbound tech work. I've been working as a computer tech for about 15 years now. I'm in the middle of my second divorce and have a beautiful six-year-old son (who lives with me), a mortgage, a house and four cars (one of which runs), a storage unit filled with about 2000 cubic feet of mostly non-functional computer equipment and no time to spend on any of it. For fun I make mead, study foreign languages, practice and teach kenpo karate, and play computer and tabletop roleplaying games.
I'm moving towards an agrarian ideal in my life and am working on growing more of my own food and taking part in the preservation and storage of more of what I depend on to survive.
For most of my life I have worried about what other people thought about me and usually extrapolated the worst. Part of this is due to the fact that I have been repeatedly told that I never learned most of the rules of casual social interaction that most of the other people around me seemed to know instinctively. It seemed safest to assume the worst when I assumed I didn't know what was going on, but it was lonely and became tiring. More recently, I have learned that I know a lot more about human social interactions that I had been previously lead to believe and actually get along with new people pretty well, as long as I ingore those who told me that I didn't know what I was doing.
